Residency vs Citizenship

Vanuatu Citizenship vs Residency

You do not need to be a citizen to live and work in Vanuatu. Many people choose to first become a resident before choosing to invest in obtaining Vanuatu citizenship.

Whilst citizenship grants rights, privileges, and protections to individuals within a country and state, and is permanent, Vanuatu residency on the other hand is a permit that allows an individual to reside in the country with conditions that must be adhered to.

You may include your spouse (married or de-facto) and dependent children (child unmarried under 18 years of age; or 18, 19 or 20 years of age unmarried and dependent for financial, psychological or physical support) in your Vanuatu residency application.
